FAQs

What rank do I have to be to train at this event?

Our seminars are applicable for all ranks! Our instructors are experts at teaching students of all experience levels. When applicable, we organize seminars by rank for the benefit of trainees and instructors.

Is the Master’s Banquet only for master ranking students?

No! The event is where we celebrate this year’s receivers of master ranks and titles in the Uechiryu Butokukai. As such, we encourage them to invite their friends, family, and fellow students for a world class meal. All are welcome to attend and celebrate their love of the martial arts.

Do I need to belong to a certain style or affiliation to attend?

No! We started Uechi-Con as an event where martial artist can get together and learn from each other regardless of style or organization. We are strong supporters of cross-training and learning from others regardless of rank or affiliation. If you are willing to “empty your cup” and bring a positive attitude then we would love to have you!

Will there be instructors from other styles?

Yes! We are planning on holding seminars from other martial art styles such as BJJ and Kali. Please use the link below for announcements of confirmed presenters.

How old should Junior Students be to join in on the fun?

While our junior instructors have many years experience teaching students of all ages (and welcome it!) it is always a good idea to check with your sensei if our event is appropriate for them. Of course, if you have any questions do not hesitate to contact us!
