10th Dan Grandmaster - Goju-Ryu | Shorin-Ryu
Hanshi Richie Bernard has acquired the rank of Judan, 10th Degree Black Belt, in two different styles of karate, Goju-Ryu Karate-Do, and Shorin-Ryu Karate-Do. He has over five decades of dedication to the martial arts and is the senior student of Sensei Ron Martin who was the senior student of O'Sensei Chuck Merriman. He is the founder of Shidokan International.
Hanshi Bernard regularly competes in tournaments throughout the New England region and has competed in every tournament on three different circuits over the past decade. The International Karate Kobudo Federation named him their “Competitor of the Year” in 2016, 2017, and again in 2018.
Mr. Bernard is also a former Patrol Officer with the Bedford, NH Police Department and a Special Deputy with the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department.
