MODULAR MARTIAL ARTS
Uechi-Ryu karate represents a complete system of body movements unique to human form and function. The movements developed by practicing the style may have both near and far transfer qualities for building motor skills from basic ambulatory functions to sophisticated sport applications. It has long been understood that to improve quality of life and to achieve the highest levels of human performance the motor system, nervous system, and cognition must be continuously trained together. This is the 'body, mind, spirit' connection that was described by the earliest practitioners of Uechi-ryu and its parent styles.
The practice of Uechi-ryu is not just another athletic endeavor; it is something different, something more. Join us as we explore the three constructs of human efficacy through the lens of modern science to better understand what is actually going on when you subscribe to Uechi-ryu karate for personal development. “The Father of American Uechi-ryu karate” Sensei George Mattson and Dr. Roy Bedard will present and discuss the four pillars of human performance to give you some very new insights into some very old yet enduring ideas.
